BUTTER JADE (also called Butterstone) is not a true Jade (Jadeite or Nephrite), rather a creamy yellow form of Grossular Garnet, a color variation of African Jade, that is found in the Greenbelt zone of South Africa. The mineral is over 2.5 billion years old and is known to contain micro fossil evidence of the first life on earth.
