Introduction By: Herman Viola
Crying For A Vision is a collection of over 100 full-page b&w photos by John A. Anderson, Eugene Buechel, and Don Doll. Anderson began taking photos in the Rosebud area in 1885; known for his formal portraits of the Sioux, he also took photos of the daily life on the reservation. Buechel photographed the Rosebud from 1922 to 1945 while serving as a priest on the reservation. Doll lived on the Rosebud during the mid-1960's as a young Jesuit teacher; his photos represented here were made since 1974.
