Award-winning photographer Don Doll, S.J., has donated his color transparencies, prints, and oral history interviews gathered for his book, Vision Quest:  Men, Women, and Sacred Sites of the Sioux Nation (Random House/Crown, 1994).  The exquisite contemporary images chronicle Lakota, Dakota and Nakota men and women who have made or are making a difference in their communities, reservations or nationally. Doll, a Jesuit priest and professor at Creighton University, had lived and taught among the Lakota forty years ago.

Over a three year period -- working in five states and Canada -- Doll interviewed and photographed sixty tribal members, each of whom managed to preserve and carry the traditions and culture of their people to new generations.  Vision Quest also formed the basis of an award-winning documentary produced by Nebraska Educational Television in 2003.

Father Doll has also photographed Yupik Eskimo and Athapaskan Indians in Alaska.  In 1997 he was the recipient of the Kodak Crystal Eagle Award for his creative work among Native peoples.
