These manmade "quartz" glass beads are not pressed or molded, rather they are individually carved using the same lapidary techniques as gemstone beads.
BLUE QUARTZ: derives its name from the German word "Quarz". It is the second most common mineral in the Earth’s continental crust. Quartz goes by an array of different names. The most important distinction between types of Quartz is that of macrocrystalline (individual crystals visible to the unaided eye) and the microcrystalline or cryptocrystalline varieties (aggregates of crystals visible only under high magnification), often referred to as "Chalcedony."
Blue is not a natural occurring color among Quartz varieties. The Blue Quartz sold on the jewelry market is either the result of color enhancement or a manmade variety. Synthetic, or "lab-grown", gemstones have the same chemical, physical, and optical characteristics as their natural counterparts. Much like a Cubic Zirconia is to a Diamond.
