 JASPER &  AGATE: are fine grained varieties of Chalcedony Quartz that form in a multitude of varying colors and patterns. Found worldwide, they often contain organic material and mineral oxides which give them interesting patterns, bands and colors. While sharing simular mineral properties, "Jasper" is the term most often used to discribe the opaque form of this stone while "Agate" refers to the more translucent and sometimes banded varieties.
