LUCK, MAGIC, FERTILITY, INTUITION, CAUTION & GENTLENESS

RABBIT is often connected with fear because he is timid, skittish and constantly on guard. Preferring to avoid danger and run from it rather than cause or confront it. Through Rabbit we learn the importance of vigilance and remaining aware and in tune with our surroundings. Rabbit teaches us that while it is always better to avoid trouble, there are times when we must all confront our fears. Rabbit shows us that defending ourselves doesn't always involve fighting back. He teaches us to listen carefully to what is going on in our environment so we can accurately use our intuition to avoid danger.

Rabbit also represents the fourth animal in the twelve-year cycle according to the Chinese Zodiac. People born in the ‘Year of the Rabbit’ are believed to be quiet, reserved, retrospective, thoughtful and lucky.

In American folklore, the foot of the Rabbit was often carried as an amulet for "Luck". The belief originated with the African-Americans who brought with them their traditional folk magic known as Hoodoo.
