BEAVER is a remarkable engineer. He constructs his living quarters turning streams into lakes, but while altering his natural environment to meet his needs, he never permanently destroys it. When Beaver leaves his home, his dam decays giving back the ground and leaving a more fertile meadow in its place. Through Beaver we can learn to work in harmony with our natural environment giving back more than we take.

Beaver is an expert builder. His home is secure and strong, sometimes towering eight feet and spanning the entire length of a body of water. Beaver accomplished this amazing feat with little more than patience and perseverance --- one small stick at a time. When Beaver swims into your life he may be reminding you that its time to strengthen your own foundations or find firmer ground on which to stand on. He teaches us that dreams aren’t built in a single day, and that in order to accomplish our goals we must continue to move forward one small step at a time.

While "busy" Beaver is industrious, his preoccupation makes him no less gentle of nature. He is both responsible and well balanced emotionally. His exterior is soft yet waterproof. Through Beaver we learn that it’s possible to be both vulnerable yet resilient. He shows us how to allow the little problems in life to just roll off our backs rather than letting them to get under our skin and distract us.
