BADGER is a solitary loner who spends both night and day tirelessly at work maintaining his environment. He is self-reliant and comfortable in his own company. He is extremely fastidious and organized, preferring to keep his surroundings neat and orderly. Through Badger we learn the importance of time management and organization.
However, all work and no play makes Badger both irritable and unsociable. He is extremely aggressive and even hostel if challenged. Badger is notorious for his ferocious temper and unwillingness to back away from any situation. He resents any sort of authority and has a hard time relating to others, preferring instead to bare his teeth and fight --- even to his own death. Through Badger’s demise we can see the importance of learning to balance both our emotions and words, of learning when to speak or just quiet down and listen.
Although Badger’s eyesight is poor, his other senses are sharp and keen. He is a remarkable digger and can get beneath the surface easily. Those like Badger are not distracted by outward appearances, rather they have an intuitive ability to scratch beneath the surface of any issue and recognize what lies underneath. Because of Badger’s deep connection to the earth, he is thought to symbolize the mysteries of the underworld, where the all the secrets of life and creation are kept.
